On the 4th of February, Layton, Dougal, and Dad decamped from our chalet to Kleine Sheidegg, establishing themselves in the top floor of the Villa Maria. After a complicated search Bonington was found on the evening of the 5th in a hotel in England. He arrived at Kleine Scheidegg on the afternoon of the 6th, just in time to watch a storm bury the face in a fresh blanket of unconsolidated snow. Day after day went by with snow building ever thicker.
